Culture: Ashes and Snow

“The power of the images comes less from their formal beauty than from the way they envelop the viewer in their mood. . . .They are simply windows to a world in which silence and patience govern time.”

A very special friend of mine sent me this link today: http://www.ashesandsnow.org/en/index.php and I checked it rapidly during the day and I liked it a lot. When I got to the hotel, I entered the site again and enjoyed all the gorgeous pictures and songs. I also looked it up in Youtube and found this beautiful video that I hope you'll all like as well.

"Since its debut in Venice in 2002, more than a million and a half people have attended Ashes and Snow, an exhibition of more than 50 large-scale photographic artworks, a 60-minute feature film, and two 9-minute film haiku by Gregory Colbert. The Nomadic Museum, the permanent travelling home of Ashes and Snow debuted in New York in March 2005 and then travelled to Los Angeles in January 2006 and Tokyo in 2007. It is in Zócalo, Mexico City, in early 2008. Ashes and Snow is a work in progress. Over the past fifteen years Colbert has collaborated with more than forty species around the world."

I hope to see it live here at some point.

Just saw the video. An oasis of peace and harmony in the middle of a busy day.

Music, words and images, all very pretty indeed.

Thanks for sharing!
